I won’t talk about the “classic” way to lose weight when you have a boyfriend althought I am convinced it works!

No I will talk about Deborah Gibson’s secret weapon in her battle to stay fit: her boyfriend.

For a year and a half, Gibson has been dating Rutledge Taylor, a medical doctor specializing in preventative medicine. To help Gibson keep in shape for her busy schedule, he developed a strict diet and exercise program. “I won’t say it was easy,” Gibson tells PEOPLE, “but it was really effective. He really came up with something that worked for me.”

“I thought I had just 5 lbs. to lose,” she continues, “But as it went on, I realized that I needed to drop a few more.”

The final tally: 17 lbs. “It really gives me a lot more energy to be fit,” she says, “and it’s also empowering. I’ll be 39 soon, and I’m in the best shape of my life.”

“And Gibson isn’t afraid to show off her new body. Last week, she appeared in a halter top and skinny jeans at the Fatone Family Foundation charity event to raise money for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. After several fans commented about her toned body, Gibson told PEOPLE, “It is really gratifying to have people notice, especially younger women. If I can do this, anyone can.”

But the biggest fan is clearly Taylor, who spent the evening making out with Gibson when she wasn’t performing on stage with Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro.

What’s next for Gibson? After wrapping up the second season of her Deborah Gibson’s Electric Youth summer camp, she is working on her comeback album and in negotiations for a reality show. “Everything’s going really well,” she says. “I’m really happy.”

Here is a silly advice for going on a diet!

Even if you’re not on a celebrity budget, you can still get tips from a hot Hollywood personal trainer. Jarett Del Bene, who keeps Lauren Conrad in shape, is Tweeting some of his best fitness advice every day. “To get great legs do lots of step-ups, squats and lunges,” the famous fitness instructor Tweeted recently. And the trainer also offers diet advice. “One way to get abs and a flat stomach is to eat 6 small meals a day … Try to eat every 3 hours.” Want more of his helpful tidbits? Kevin Federline used to make fun of Britney Spears about her weight but looks like the situation has changed…

K-Fed’s obsesity is nothing new, but now that Britney is slowly getting her groove back, she’s supposedly the one dishing out insults. Britney is supposedly calling Kevin the “fat housewife” and “K-fatter-Line.” Cute nicknames…

Britney Spears has put ex-hubby Kevin Federline on a diet because he’s gorged no so much fatty food, he’s gained a whopping 85 pounds.

The 5-foot-10 former backup dancer weighed just 150 pounds when he married the singer in 2004. Now he tips the scales at about 235 pounds.

Back when they were married, Kevin used to chide Britney about her weight, but now the dinner table has turned. These days, it is Britney who is making the jokes - calling him K-Fatter-line and other names.

“She’ll ask him, ‘When is the baby due?’” revealed a source.”

Is Britney getting a little ahead of herself here? After all, she’s the one who’s just recently been deemed mentally stable enough to have custody of her own children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. And who could forget her head shaving and ambulance ride incidents.

In kind of a gender role reversal, K-Fed’s put on a little weight while doing the mommy thing, and he’s not getting any respect for it from Britney.

Maybe Britney has her sons’ best interest at heart. She doesn’t want K-Fed to set a bad health example for them.
