Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s new website has caused consternation after it published unflattering drawings of Gordon Brown’s wife Sarah, and Michelle and Barack Obama.
Sarah Brown said on Twitter that she was “a bit bemused” by a line drawing of her posted in the gallery section of the French President’s wife official website, which crashed minutes after going live on Monday due to the overwhelming number of visits.
Politicians, first ladies and film and rock stars feature in the gallery, half appearing in photos and the other in drawings.

The drawing of the Prime Minister’s wife looks nothing like her. She comes across as far more narrow-faced than in the flesh and in need of urgent dental and hair treatment in the red line caricature.
In a remark posted on Tuesday night on Twitter, the social networking service, Mrs Brown implied she was less than ecstatic with the portrait: “love Carla Bruni Sarkozy’s new website though bit bemused by illustration of me”.
Sarah Brown has overtaken Stephen Fry as Britain’s highest profile Twitter user – now with 831,000 followers compared to Mr Fry’s 795,000. The number of fans keeping up with her tweets amounts to almost five times the entire Labour party membership.
Fellow tweeters responded instantly. One, miraldamaasikas, leapt to her defence, saying: “I don’t think this drawing looks anything like Sarah brown.. it’s too narrow… ;)”
Mrs Brown told a fellow user, bigbellbess, that she was taking it in her stride: “bemused in a good way - I think it is really cool.”
She can take comfort from the fact that other well-known figures received rougher treatment.
The US first couple, Barack and Michelle Obama, look almost extra-terrestrial in their blue line drawing, as do the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
But the saving grace, perhaps is that Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy looks arguably the weirdest of all.
Her husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, however, gets the royal treatment. His drawing has reduced his ear and nose size considerably and given him an action-man square jaw that in reality he lacks.
Others drawn by illustrators including Alice Déchelette that feature on the website include Nelson Mandela, Leonard Cohen, Bono, Lou Reed and John Galliano.

David Letterman has admitted that he has his “work cut out” trying to patch up his marriage after he revealed on air last week that he had cheated on his wife with female staff members.

Letterman, 62, one of America’s most popular talk show hosts, shocked his audience, and the entertainment industry, when he admitted that he had been the target of an extortion attempt as a result of a series of affairs with women who worked with him.

Last night he again used his his popular Late Show With David Letterman to make a public statement – this time to apologise to his wife Regina Lasko, whom he married in March after dating for more than 20 years.

“She has been horribly hurt by my behaviour, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it’s your responsibility, you try to fix it,” Letterman, who has a five-year-old son with Ms Lasko, told his audience during a taping of his TV show in New York on Monday night.

Last Thursday Letterman revealed that he had been allegedly victimised in an extortion plot by a man who threatened to write a screenplay or book about various things he had done. “Creepy stuff … that I have had sex with women who work with me on this show,” Letterman said. “Yes, I have.”

The following day, Robert “Joe” Halderman, a producer for the CBS news programme 48 Hours, was arrested and accused of grand larceny after receiving a fake $2 million (£1.3 million) cheque from Letterman. Mr Halderman, who has pleaded not guilty to the extortion charges, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Yesterday Mr Halderman’s lawyer Gerald Shargel appeared on morning talk shows in the US to proclaim his client’s innocence and say that Letterman had given only one side of the story.

“David Letterman didn’t give his [Halderman's] side of the story, David Letterman gave what he wanted the public to know,” Mr Shargel said on NBC’s Today show.

“He wanted to get out ahead of the story, and that’s exactly what he did.”

Letterman hit back last night with his public apology to his wife and also apologised to his staff for putting them under the spotlight.

“Inadvertently, I just wasn’t thinking ahead,” Letterman said. “My thanks to the staff for, once again, putting up with something stupid I’ve gotten myself involved in.”

Audience members who attended the taping at the Ed Sullivan Theatre said Letterman had spoken frequently throughout the programme about the events. He also joked about the situation with guests Steve Martin and Martin Short.

“I’ll be honest with you folks, right now I’d give anything to be hiking on the Appalachian Trail,” he said, referring to the location where Mr Sanford, the Governor of South Carolina, claimed he was when he was actually with his mistress in Argentina.

“I got into the car this morning and the navigation lady wasn’t speaking to me,” Letterman added.

Letterman’s audience members praised the TV host’s honesty.

“It’s unfortunate but Dave is handling it just how he should have. He came out clean, told everybody what he thought … he’s a good guy,” Cliff Crumpton told the nypost.com as he waited to watch Letterman’s show.

Marilyn Manson’s concert promoters just dismissed rumors that the rocker has been inflicted with swine flu.

A statement from the promoters of Manson’s Canadian tour read: “The Gillett Entertainment Group and Live Nationconfirmed today that contrary to rumours circulating, Marilyn Manson is not suffering from swine flu.”

The funny thing is that those “rumours” come from the singer himself a couple days ago when he posted on his blog: “So I have officially been diagnosed, by a real doctor, with THE SWINE FLU.”

“I know everyone will suggest that f**king a pig is how this disease was obtained. However, the doctor said, my past choices in women have, in ‘no way’ contributed to… me acquiring this mysterious sickness. Unfortunately, I am going to survive. M.”

Amy Whinehouse has been undergoing excruciating dental reconstruction after drug binges ruined her teeth.

A series of fillings and extractions over recent weeks has left the songbird in constant pain.

But she braved the discomfort for a Thursday night tear-up in central London that took in three dinners and an ugly bust-up in a nightclub.

A source told me: “Amy’s teeth were in a pretty gross state. They were brown and stained and needed major work on them and she was determined to get them back to their sparkling best.

“It’s all major work and it’s left her in almost constant pain, but she thinks the sacrifice is worth it.

“She’s been given some very strong drugs to cope with the pain.”

The Grammy winner began her epic night out, alongside pal TYLER JAMES, with some nosh at a branch of Pizza Express.

Later she stopped by seafood restaurant Live Bait in Covent Garden.

She ended her evening at Soho’s Jazz After Dark club, where she enjoyed chips before slurring her way through a surprise set.

However, it didn’t take long until the ugly Amy emerged.

She dedicated a rendition of Back To Black to ex-husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL. But having sung for a little over ten minutes she left the stage, telling fans she couldn’t sing because her teeth hurt too much.

Moments later she was involved in a furious bust-up with a punter.

My source revealed “Suddenly there was a huge commotion. Amy was effing and blinding at this fella. She was so angry, spit was flying everywhere.”

When her minders ushered her out of the nightspot she got into a further tangle as she was trying to get to her waiting taxi.

A passer-by’s shout of: “Oi Amy, where’s your crack pipe?” caused another furious volley of four-letter words.

Earlier this week the singer was impeccably behaved at a charity event near her North London home.

I hope this latest exploit doesn’t signal a return to the bad old days.

As we talked yesterday about Kanye West ruining Taylor Swift’s Award, I thought that Taylor’s mom now being upset deserved its own stars gossip !

Minutes after Kanye West stormed the stage as she accepted her Video Music Award, a teary-eyed Taylor Swift pulled herself together to perform her award-winning song, “You Belong With Me,” atop a cab parked in front of Radio City Music Hall.

But West only continued the drama by angering the entire Swift family. After Swift’s mother, Andrea, asked to speak to the rapper and, a source tells a newspaper, “tore into him,” the rapper continued to maintain that Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” should have won Best Female Video instead and made no formal apology.

Later on his Web site, West confirmed that Swift’s mother “said the same thing my mother would have said,” but didn’t offer a full apology until Monday afternoon, when he said, “That was Taylor’s moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry.”

Among those who did offer support backstage was Beyoncé’s dad, Matthew, who comforted Taylor and her family, and arranged the moment in which Beyoncé gave Swift a second chance at the spotlight.

A spokeswoman for Taylor says she’s been overwhelmed by her fellow musicians’ “kindness, support and generosity.”

“I’m really happy for you, I’m gonna let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”

Kanye West, interrupted Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards by saying this during Taylor’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video after she beat out Beyoncé.

Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he is too old for partying. The 20-year-old Harry Potter star no longer socializes with the rest of the “Harry Potter” cast and crew because he wants to carve out a career as a respected actor.

He said: “I used to play a lot of pranks in the past but I want to be a more mature, serious actor now.”

“I don’t get involved with drinking or partying with the cast anymore.”

Daniel’s serious attitude appears to be in contrast to his “Harry Potter” co-star Rupert Grint.

Rupert has been spotted at several U.K. music festivals this summer and makes no secret of his love of wild nights out.

He recently said: “When I’m drunk I like to cause mischief. I’ll steal props like the broomsticks from the ‘Harry Potter’ set and bring them out to the pub for comedy value. It seems funny at the time. Trouble is I usually get too trashed to remember what happened the next day.”

The Sexy star Kim Cattrall is now in big trouble with the production of the upcoming movie of Sex and the City 2. While in the street in New York she was carrying the script in her hand and The Mirror managed to zoom in.

According to MSNBC reports, it looks like Samantha Jones’ ex, Smith Jerrod, might be back, at least in the form of a telephone call to her. Also revealed: Samantha’s on hormones, possibly signaling that her character is dealing with menopause.

“I’m going to need you to go on a testosterone run,” she tells her assistant, according to the script. When her assistant replies she’ll do it the next morning, Samantha shows her who’s boss: “Said the 24-year-old. I’ll call the pharmacy and tell them you are on your way.”
